RENO, Nev. – Reno 1868 FC snatched a commanding grasp of third place in the USL’s Western Conference after a dominant 3-0 win over the West’s top team, Real Monarch SLC, on Tuesday at Greater Nevada Field.

With the win, Reno jumped into sole control of third place in the West while extending the club’s unbeaten streak to 14-straight (club record). It was also Reno’s first ever win over Real Monarchs SLC.

In front of a crowd of 5,125 fans, Reno dominated the Monarchs from the start staying the final third for a majority of the first half.

Reno kicked off the scoring off a Seth Casiple corner kick that was headed to defender Brent Richards who found midfielder Luis Felipe who volleyed it in to put Reno up 1-0 at the half.

The goal was Luis Felipe’s first goal this season.

The second half turned into the Brian Brown show as the forward found the back of the net off an Antoine Hoppenot assist in the 57th minute.

The goal was Brown’s first of the night and Hoppenot’s eighth assist this season, which put him in a tie for the league lead.

Brown wasn’t done as he scored an absolute beauty in the 66th minute off a Paul Marie cross to cap off Reno’s 3-0 win.

Brown’s brace put him at a team high seven goals this season, also good for third most in the USL.

Reno will aim to make it 15-straight without a loss on Sunday when the club travels to Seattle to take on Sounders 2 at 1:30 p.m. PT. Reno returns home July 14 to take on the Morelia Monarcas in the club’s Liga MX friendly.
