RENO, Nev. – Reno 1868 FC enters its first Open Cup match in club history against OSA Football Club Wednesday, May 17 at 7:30 p.m. PST at the Starfire Sports Complex in Tukwila, Washington. 
    
Notching its 104th year of existence, the Open Cup is the oldest sporting event in the United States. Reno begins in the second round, a set standard for USL teams in the Open Cup. 

Reno 1868 FC will host a watch party for the Open Cup match at Legends Grill Sports & Spirits on May 17 starting at 6:30 p.m. with Kickoff at 7:30 p.m. All 1868 FC founding members in attendance will receive 15% off their tab.

Sizing up the competition

OSA FC 

OSA FC is an American association football club based in the Seattle metro area. Its current home is at French Field in Kent, Washington. Founded in 2015, it competes in the Northwest Conference of the National Premier Soccer League, a national league on the fourth-tier of the American Soccer Pyramid.

On July 2, 2016, the team defeated Portland Spartans FC 2-1 to finish their inaugural season in 1st place in the Northwest Conference, which secured qualification for the 2016 NPSL West Region playoffs. This marked the second consecutive Northwest Conference Championships for the leadership group, albeit under different club brands.

Brothers 

Filling OSA’s roster is head coach Ian Russell’s younger brother Sean Russell. Sean is an alumnus of Garfield High School and Seattle Pacific University and now plays with OSA FC. His days leading up to now have been filled with glory in the NCAA tournament with SPU and some great moments with the Kitsap Pumas. 

A Different Team

Reno’s last match didn’t just cement Reno’s first win in club history. The last match against Phoenix Rising proved Reno has what takes to compete at the highest levels in the United States. 

Mr. Hat Trick
Forward Dane Kelly demonstrated his skill as a prolific goal scorer by notching the first hat trick in club history. His brace also came within the first six minutes of play. 

Lindo Skywalker
Mfeka proved he was a starter last match with near perfect passing accuracy and provided many chances for the offense. 

The Cleanest Sheets
Reno recorded its first clean sheet last match despite many lofty attempts by Phoenix.
