RENO, Nev.– Reno 1868 FC and Greater Nevada Field will be hosting Reno/Sparks’ largest Oktoberfest celebration. The celebration will kick off on Friday October 4, and will include pre-match festivities ahead of Saturday, October 5th’s Reno 1868 FC match against El Paso Locomotive. The event will be held in front of Greater Nevada Field, and admission is free.
“We are thrilled to host the largest Oktoberfest in Northern Nevada,” said Reno 1868 FC general manager Doug Raftery. “Combining Oktoberfest into a soccer match day on Saturday night will be a one-of-a-kind event in this area.”
Friday’s festivities will run from 4:00 p.m. PT to 10:00 p.m. PT, and Saturday’s “Party on the Plaza” will start at 12:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., running during and after Los Azules’ match against El Paso.
Both days will feature performances from First Take Oompah, Amplified Entertainment, keg toss and stein holding competitions, and of course plenty of traditional German beers. Traditional Oktoberfest food will be available, including warm German potato salad, pretzels, pierogi, beer cheese brats and stew.
Food packages including a sausage or chicken plate with a beer stein and a beer will be available at the event. Food packages can also be purchased with tickets to 1868 FC’s match against El Paso for an even better bargain.
